“We contacted Melissa Duncan last year when our homeowner’s policy increased quite a bit with our previous insurance company and allowed her to quote our home in Merritt Island, our autos, and my motorcycle policies. Between all three policies, we saved $1550.00 a year. The savings on our home was $1000 alone. Since then, she has reviewed our homeowner’s policy with us again and suggested a wind inspection since our roof was replaced in 2004. We have been very pleased with the service and savings.” - James Ozmar Jr
“I’ve always been happy with the service Allen-Duncan Agencies has provided, so last year when they told me I could save money on my homeowner’s insurance by getting a wind mitigation inspection, I scheduled an appointment and had the inspection done. It saved me about $600.00 a year on my insurance and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much Allen-Duncan Agencies.” - Elizabeth House
“I’ve been with several of the “big name” insurance companies in the past, and always felt like I was getting ripped off. Going with an independent agency allows me to shop for reliable and quality insurance at an affordable price. I like the personalized service I get at Allen Duncan, and I know the agents there are working for my best interests.” - Mark Poff

DEFINITIONS OF AUTO INSURANCE COVERAGES
BODILY INJURY LIABILITY
“Bodily injury pays for injuries or death to another person caused by you as a result of an accident that is your fault.”
PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY
“Property damage liability pays for any destruction of property that you cause with your vehicle. The most common example is paying for the other person’s vehicle if you are at fault in an accident. These coverages will only pay for property that you damage, not for your own damaged property. You will be considered at fault for an accident if this coverage is paid out by your insurance company. The state requires that you carry at least $10,000 in coverage for property damage.”
MEDICAL PAYMENTS COVERAGE
“Medical payments coverage will pay for medical expenses sustained by you or any passengers in your vehicle that get injured in an accident up to the limits on your policy regardless of fault in the accident. This coverage is optional and not required by the state or by finance companies.”
PERSONAL INJURY PROTECTION COVERAGE
“Personal injury protection coverage is sometimes called no fault and is the reason Florida is considered a no fault state. Personal injury protection is always primary regardless of who is at fault for the accident and gives up to $10,000 in coverage. Personal injury protection coverage pays for 80% of medical expenses, 60% of income lost, and funeral expenses for any injury sustained either as the driver of a vehicle or as a pedestrian. The state required that all drivers carry this coverage. You may elect a deductible of up to $1000.00 or exclude the wage loss section of coverage for cost savings. To increase the percentage of medical expenses covered to 100% and the wage loss to 80%, extended personal injury protection is available for an additional charge.”
UNINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE
“Uninsured motorist coverage will pay for medical expenses sustained by you or any passengers in your vehicle that get injured in an accident up to the limits on your policy if the other driver is at fault and either doesn’t have any or enough bodily injury coverage on their policy. This coverage is optional and is not required by the state or by finance companies.”
COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE
“Comprehensive coverage pays for the following losses to your car: glass breakage, fire, theft or larceny, hurricane, hail, flood, vandalism, or a collision with a deer or other animal. Windshields are always a $0 deductible to have fixed in Florida, but only if you have comprehensive coverage on the vehicle. However, this $0 deductible only applies to windshields, as for all other glass claims your deductible applies. Comprehensive coverage carries a deductible and the higher your deductible, the lower your premium will be because that means more out of pocket expense for you. Comprehensive coverage is required if you are financing your car. Comprehensive is sometimes a good idea to carry on older vehicles even when you don’t carry collision coverage.”
COLLISION INSURANCE COVERAGE
“Collision coverage pays for loss to your car which results from a collision with another object or vehicle. Your deductible would be subtracted from the amount of the loss and then you receive the rest of the settlement. Collision covers the following instances: a single car accident (you run into a light pole, collision fixes your vehicle), you are at fault in an accident (collision will fix your vehicle), you are not at fault in an accident but the other person doesn’t have insurance (collision will fix your vehicle – NOT UNINSURED MOTORIST COVERAGE WHICH ONLY COVERS MEDICAL PAYMENTS). Collision coverage always carries a deductible and the higher your deductible, the lower your premium will be because that means more out of pocket expense for you. Collision coverage is required if you are financing your car.”
ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE COVERAGE
“Roadside assistance coverage provides up to your selected limit of coverage for the following services: towing to the nearest service station, changing of a flat tire, jump starting your car if your battery is dead, delivery of gas or other fluids if you run out, lock out service if you are locked out of your car. Some companies have their own 800 number you can call for service and some companies reimburse you after pay for the service to be done. This is an optional coverage and is not required by the state or finance companies.”
RENTAL CAR OR ADDITIONAL EXPENSE COVERAGE
“Rental car or additional expense coverage pays for you to rent a car up to your selected daily limit for up to 30 days if there is a covered loss on the vehicle such as a collision. This coverage does not pay if your car just breaks down. This is an optional coverage and is not required by the state or finance companies.”
